One way to sense a company's prospects for future success is to look at its past performance.
For example, how long has the company been in business? How well did it weather the nation's periods of economic turmoil? How responsive was the company to consumer needs?
When measured against the "test of time," Utica National scores high marks indeed.
1914 - The Birth of an
Insurance Company. The Utica National
Insurance Group begins with the creation of the Utica Mutual Compensation Insurance
Corporation which was founded in Utica, New York, as a workers compensation carrier. John
L. Train was chosen to be the first general manager.
1919 - Company name change. Since the company's founding, the charter powers of mutual companies were expanded and Utica Mutual began writing liability, property damage, collision and theft insurance in addition to workers compensation.
