Graduating from Georgia State University, Mr. Pope began his career with Pope and Company in 1968 as a producer. He served as President from 1977 until 1986 when Pope and Company and Love-Douglas Insurance merged, acting as VP of Marketing. He was appointed to his current position in 2000. He holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation, is a member of the Professional Insurance Agents Association and the Independent Insurance Agents of America. He served on Utica's Graphic Arts Task Force from 1987 until 1993, the Utica Regional Agents Advisory Board, the Hartford Agent Advisory Board, the SAFECO President's Council and the Harleysville Insurance Agents Advisory Board.

Mr. Pope was also a Rotarian for sixteen years.
