James P. Carhart
Senior Vice President
Senior Information/Services Officer
Mr. Carhart currently is Senior Information/Services Officer, a position he has held since 2002. He was Vice President prior to this promotion. During his 27-year tenure with the company, Mr. Carhart has held increasingly responsible positions within the Information Technology department, including Systems Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, and Operations Manager.
Mr. Carhart was named an officer of the company, as Assistant Secretary, in 1995 and was elected Assistant Vice President in 1999, Vice President in 2002 and Senior Vice President in 2007.
A graduate of SUNY at Plattsburgh with a bachelor's degree in economics,
Mr. Carhart holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
designation along with seven other professional designations from programs
of study in insurance and information technology.
He is co-founder and former chairman of the CPCU
Society's Information Technology Section, as well as past president
of the Society's Utica Chapter. A former member of the Alliance of
American Insurers' e-commerce committee, Mr. Carhart has served as
an instructor for the Insurance Institute of America's
Associate in Automation Management program.
